The play written by Michael Bennett , The Chorus Line, was phenomenal!
I watched the high school adaptation, which was performed by the Stockdale High School Performance Theater, on March 10, 2018. The astounding musical play consisted of a variety of songs that all were sung beautifully by the cast, different dance numbers, and an impressive lively ending which fired up the audience. Even from the beginning, the entire cast started off with a strong introduction as two powerhouse lead singers sang their hearts out in the song “I Hope I Get It.” Overall, the live production was an amazing representation of what hardwork and perseverance can do. For example, there was a scene in the middle of the play called Montage 3. In this scene, characters talked over each other in an attempt to create humor. Although, this just created confusion in the audience because some actors were not heard or the dialogue did not make sense. In addition, there was not a leading antagonist or conflict throughout the play. It was not made clear what the conflict was until towards the ending of the performance. However, I respect that the actors tried the best of their capacity to end the scene smoothly.
In summary, the play was a tremendous example of the high level high school actors can reach. Each and every member of the cast did the best of their ability to ensure their voice was clear, and their emotions were believable. This play was very captivating and kept me interested the whole time. Chorus Line has truly impressed me since in my opinion, the Stockdale Mustangs were closely up to par to those plays in Broadway! I absolutely would recommend others to watch this play because it provides a lot of entertainment and valuable insight on the lives of
