There has been an increase in favor because of the potential need for more classroom space and it also allows for a better learning environment for struggling or at-risk students, improvement and sustaining of grades, and remediation. This potential for a better learning environment comes from the increase in shorter breaks and shorter sessions of students actually being in school at a time. Most parents and teachers in favor of year-round education believe that this helps their child and/or student significantly. Parents and teachers would favor this because for students that are devoted to their future they will most likely be able to maintain an interest in learning. In addition, others say that students and teacher don’t encounter a learning burn out as easily since the school gives more frequent breaks. Year-round schooling can help because most students may not experience what some call the “summer slide” or loss of learned material during the previous school year. Personally I can prove the aforementioned statement as true because I myself and several of my classmates in the past have stated how they don’t remember a certain topic from the previous year. Fewer people are needed today to provide the same if not more food than that of which was grown in the past. With that, people and families started to move to urban and suburban areas to take on other jobs. This lead to intercity and urban area schools receiving an influx of students forcing them in most cases to expand facilities and in other cases build more facilities to accommodate for the increase in student population. This may have led to the concepts of single-track and multi-track school calendars for year-round education. To explain, singletrack school calendars consist of both students and teachers being in session or out of session during the school year at the same time. Single-track schools can be considered as comparable to a regular school year but spread out over the course of twelve months. The financial budget of the school district should remain the same or comparable to a traditional calendar. While, multi-track school calendars are when there may be four to five different tracks of students and teacher during the school year. For example, if a school has four tracks three of those tracks may be in a session while the fourth track is out of session on break. This can also be said for schools that have five tracks.
