In Britain, the majority of schools observe a strict dress code. It is often mandatory for students to wear blue or black skirts and pants, along with blazers, ties, pullovers, and even socks of a specific color. Some schools go as far as to ban makeup and fashion accessories. However, once a student is sixteen, many schools will relax the uniform and allow the teenagers to have more power over what they wear.
Uniforms are also seen in Eastern Asia. Uniforms have been a staple in Japanese schools for over a century. While the elementary age students are allowed to dress more casually, the middle and high school students have strict military like uniforms.
