To begin with, in most college cities, there are many forms of housing within the vicinity of a student’s school. Students who like to refrain from taking out loans, or do not have the financial support are more inclined to live off campus. In off campus living, opportunities to have roommates to share the cost of rent and other bills are common. Off campus housing allows the opportunity to pay monthly payments which on campus does not allow. Therefore, on campus students have to pay a lump sum of the cost, which can be problematic for students who do not want to go into debt. Students who reside on campus do not have to worry about monthly payments like their off campus counterparts. This allows students living on campus focus on school, alleviating the stress that can come from monthly payments. Despite the affordability of off campus residence, the academic advantage associated with living on campus overrides the benefits of off campus residence. In addition to not having to worry about payments, students living on campus also benefit by the variety of areas students can eat at. Equally important is the notion that students living on campus allows students to become more connected with their school and other students; involvement in organizations is likely to increase as well. Moreover, some of the best memories, friendships, and networking are made on campus. Therefore, while there are two sides to this topic, living on campus is undoubtedly a better option for freshman
