The drinking culture in our family, community or country influences young people who follow these behaviours to drink alcohol. "EVERYONE knows Australians love a drink. It's embedded in our culture" (Kathryn Powley, 2016). Most outings such as barbecues or family celebrations often consist of adults drinking alcohol. Young people in our society will think that it's normal to drink alcohol and that you have a more enjoyable time when your drinking then if your sober. Family environment strongly effects whether the teenagers drink or not. If the parents have a behaviour of drinking every night, the teenagers will adopt that habit and do the same. If the household has a lot of alcohol in the pantry and around the house also will tempt the teenagers into drinking. The culture in which teenagers are bought up in impacts the decisions they make.
The strategy I have been exposed to and decided to evaluate is Climate Schools. Climate Schools is a website and company that teaches teens alcohol and drugs are bad and hopefully prevents teenage drinking in an enjoyable and memorable way. The strategy uses cartoons and a story to engage the teenagers and makes the information in the story very interesting and easy to understand.
