When the issue comes into the limelight, the instructor or the teacher loses authority and respect from the fellow teachers (Lucas‐Molina et al., 2015). No teacher will recognize his colleague after realizing that he or she has a sexual relationship with the students. Therefore, colleagues may start demeaning such a teacher. When the other students know about the relationship, they tend not to respect the teacher. Reputation is very vital in a person’s life. Therefore, these relationships end up damaging a person’s reputation. When the teacher’s reputation is damaged, he or she may not enjoy some benefits such as promotions. If the students have reached the age of sexual accord, the teacher will be fired from the job due to his or her sexual misconduct (Fasting et al., 2014). The teachers have their codes of ethics. In the professional standards, the sexual misconduct between the teacher and the students is highly prohibited. Therefore, when a teacher breaches the professional conduct and trust, he or she is a high chance of losing his or her job.
