In most cases the symptoms will be seen within the first hours or days of disease onset, depending on the severity. Some of the first signs and symptoms are numbness and tingling in the lower extremity. Then gradually the disease starts affecting the trunk, arms, and cranial region. As the disease worsens symptoms such as; numbness and tingling, loss of tendon reflexes in arms and legs, cramp-like pain in muscles, uncoordinated movement, poor blood pressure control, abnormal heart rate, blurred vision, difficulty moving facial muscles, and muscle contractures.
