1.1 Background to the Research
Since the eighties, the core of reform and opening up policy which aims to restore and construct the markets economic system. This has been hugely successful and the sustainable development is identified as the strategic development of the country and is gaining social attention gradually.
The concept of sustainable construction is to pursue a rapid and efficient way of reducing environmental impact and be conducive to the occupants health. Development and promotion of energy-saving technology are an important way for actually sustainable buildings. 1.3 The objectives
A) To identify what sustainable construction is, introduce the standards for measuring building sustainability as well as technology utilisation ideas.
B) To utilize the literature to present the data research and the promoting methods in the UK, identify the current situation and challenges of sustainable construction in China.
C) To identify the strengths and challenges of sustainable construction utilising in China via questionnaires and interviews.
D) To formulate conclusions and recommendations for the future construction in China.

The author began the review by conducting a preliminary literature search on the Internet. Then the author used the University’s FIND IT facility for extended documents available. The author utilized the Boolean operators to retrieve the most relevant information for the research. In addition, the author asked few domestic friends for assistance to searching the latest information about sustainable construction in Suzhou city in Suzhou University of Science and Technology library.
Journal of Urbanism and Architecture specifically was of greatest interest for this research. To identify the relevant articles, the author proceeded to read the abstracts from 2013 to 2015. One of the most prominent authors identified during the research was JiangYi, an academician of China Engineering Academy and professor from School of Architecture at Tsinghua University.
