Based on the student interest inventory, I will be able to give instruction that engages the students considering the survey reveals their preferred learning styles and their interests. From my student interest inventory, I determined 100% of the students take joy in writing, enjoy coloring, are fond of drawing, rather work with their peers, enjoy watching movies, play with classmates outside of school, love science projects, like spending time outside, and enjoy music. I also concluded that only 76% feel confident enough to do math in their heads, 52% daydream in class, 76% like to touch things while they learn about them, 81% like to sing, 86% enjoy reading, and 95% like to look for patterns. This indicates that she has a hard time visualizing in her head. From this, I will be able to work with the student using visuals and then slowly begin to take them away and reminding her to visualize them in her head until she is able to do this on her own. An example of this is in math. The student is not able to visualize 2+3=5 in her head, but given some manipulative, she will be able to show a group of two of bears plus a group of three bears equals five bears. This would be the first step. The next step would include her drawing the groups on her page, a group of two and a group of three. From this she will be able to notice that there are five items total. The last step in this process would be to have her visualize the groups in her head to find the answer. Eventually she will be able to add numbers in her head and feel more confident with this procedure, but until this point, she will need scaffolding to show her how to visualize the problem in her head. Using this survey to find students’ weaknesses will help me know what I need to scaffold for their academic needs. While I will be working with the student on visualizing mathematical problems in her head, I will be able to boost her confidence in this area. Due to her confidence increasing, she will be more willing to take part in the activities and be more engaged during this time since she will have a
