After the taxes were set in place, the colonists began to get very upset and began to have meetings about, what they would do to either be able to survive after the new British legislature being passed or what they would do to retaliate against the British control. The British continued to pass more and more laws that the colonists abhorred because the laws made their lives incredibly more expensive and much harder. One of the new laws was that they could not meet in private anymore so that they could not plot to revolt and try for independence. Another piece of legislature put into practice by the British Parliament was the tax on tea. This tax made the colonists furious and they decided to disguise themselves as Native Americans and unload…
The British implemented many different taxes and acts that the colonists believed were unfair such as the Stamp, Tea and Intolerable acts which increased british control that led to the start of the Revolutionary War. First off we have the Stamp act which was instituted in the year of 1764. Not only was this the first act the british imposed onto the colonists it also caused a lot of hate. Now look at Document 2, the importation graph for Britain. When you look at the year 1764 when the Stamp act was first put into action the importation rates decreased.…
This hurt all of the family because all the papers they were using were taxed. Also all tax money went to the King george the Third. The reason they had to put taxes on all paper because the British had a seven year war that put them in dept. The taxes really helped all the British but it put the colonist in rage. The colonist was really mad and so were the people that had to buy paper from…
Question # 1 The political climate in England during the 1760s was one of desperation and uncertainty. Desperate because when the French and Indian War ended, England was in debt. Their national debt almost doubled from £75 million in 1754 to £133 million in 1763 and they needed to pay off some of that debt (Tax History, 2016, p.2). The capital had been borrowed from both British and Dutch banks.…
For example, every time they wanted to buy a Will or a newspaper, there was a big increase of tax involved. The tax went right back to Britain. In fact, there was a set of laws passed called the Townshend Acts. These acts included a tax on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies. These laws…

The Seven Years’ War ended with Britain as the victor, however the newly acquired land came a tremendous obstacle. During the war with France, Britain’s national debt doubled due to maintaining North America, as well as the permanent stationing of British soldiers in the colonies. British colonial policy changed after 1763 due to Britain’s need to reduce an immense national debt by passing measures to tax the colonies in efforts to draw colonists to pay their “fair share”. With a staggering debt and colonists only paying a 26th of what the average Briton pays in taxes the British ministry issued several direct taxes on goods, along with tightening enforcement on the Navigation Acts. Colonists were outraged by the taxation and policies parliament…
The patriots have been making trouble for the Loyalist. They only want to preserve their lands when the colonies stand up to Britain. They will only brew more trouble for the Loyalist. The Patriots have been making trouble with the British by turning down the acts and boycotting the products of the British to prove that they won 't buy anything until they are heard and respected. The British would only help the colonies if they would buy taxed goods so they have money to protect them.…
The Effects of the French and Indian War During the 1754-63 the French and Indian War significantly altered the political, economic, and ideological relations between Britain and its American colonies. Political of effects the war included Britain 's disbandment of the salutary neglect policy. Economics is how the economy was doing and if the money was doing good in the region. During the and after the war the economy was chaotic and had an enormous debt that needed to be payed. Finally, an ideological relation is the most ideal situation for a relationship, such as a treaty which is ideal for helping colonist to obtain peace and a fair deal.…
The increase in taxes was one of the many factors that contributed to the war between Britain and the colonies. The more the colonies try to fight back the more the British increased taxes (p99). The British basic wanted to control and dictate the colonies lives. In 1765 the colonies boycotted British goods hoping that would put a stop to it. (p101)…
Deep in the home of colonist, a riot was forming. It is March 23, 1765, just one day since colonist received the treacherous news, of what they thought to be a horrendous, tax they would be forced to pay. Just as things started to calm down from the French and Indian war, that took place on colonist land, the stamp act was thrown upon them. King George III and the British accumulated a massive debt after the French and Indian war. British Funds experience a dramatic shortage, so Parliament was forced to place taxes on the colonists to offset the accrued war expenses. Paying off the debt from the seven-year war was King George’s main concern. By taxing anyone who was neglected during the seven years’ war the British funds could add to their empire thus by strengthening it more. Taxation came in many forms, the first was the Sugar Act (1764), the Stamp Act (1765) and the Townshend Duties (1767).…
Zinn is arguing that the American Revolution was not really an honest effort to create a fair and democratic society. Also, he argues, the Revolution was mainly a way of replacing the British with another elite the colonial or American one. The Revolution, then, did not really do much to change the experience of the working class and the poor. The elites were just interested in keeping the rich rich and the poor poor. They had the ability to do this by using democratic rhetoric.…
King George III and the British accumulated a massive debt after the French and Indian war. British assets were depleting at an exponential rate, so Parliament decided to tax the colonists in order to offset their expenses from the war. By reducing the debt from the seven-year war King George’s could reign over the colonies for many years to come. Consequently, Colonists in the 13 states suffered higher expenditures, even imported tea would cost more than usual. All 13 colonies gave consent on paying higher taxes to the British crown, however Boston didn’t consent because they weren’t provided representation so their response was no, but parliament subjected them anyways.…
Around the 1770’s, the British had extended their mercantilistic policies of trade restrictions and economic control. Creating laws and looking out for the crown’s interest, they began to tax the American Colonists. When the colonists retaliated, England responded with a larger military presence. These economic and military policies threatened the colonies.…
