Presented with a description of an object, person, or place, color is often used to assist visualization. In Fitzgerald 's novel specific colors are hidden in the text providing a purpose far more in depth rather than just giving a visual description. “Color plays an important role in the initial processing of visual stimuli,” (Henderson 673) that are a vital to the physiological aspect of “evidence that color terms affect how one remembers or makes judgments about colors” (Sapir-Whorf 1). Along with wearing white to a ceremony to respect death. Therefore white used through the novel was to alludes the death of Jay Gatsby. “The eyes of Doctor T. J. Eckleburg are blue and gigantic” (Fitzgerald 27) expresses his figurative all seeing eyes. The color blue expressed in the wise eye is for a sense of serenity. Throughout the book it is clear that Doctor T. J. Eckleburg’s eyes are no virgin to the crockery in the lives he watches over and acts he witnesses. Blue is referred to as a calm and a stimulus for the mind to think more clearly. “The green light at the end of Daisy 's dock” (189) is a beacon of light for Gatsby which in turns fuels his hope. The associated reaction and respond to the color is envy. The saying green with envy is very relatable in the story. Jay Gatsby envies Tom, for he gets to live and love the women of Gatsby’s dream, Daisy. Reading, looking, or experiencing a world without color is unfathomable. Personal preference is developed in turn an individual has a favorite color. Colors are driven by stimulus to which we enjoy the most of. Without the elaborate color schemes throughout the novel, the story would have very little connective value to the reader. Without a deep connection with the character influenced by word choices the story can not assist “on how we see or experience the world” (Sapir-Whorf 1) on personal level. With a person meaning behind each word read, it allows the novel to elaborate on hidden meanings all influenced a choice of
