“Many call it the 1000 yard stare and can't realize the pain when PTSD takes us there.” (Stanley Victor Paskavich) In Benedict Carey’s factual article, Stress On Troops Adds to U.S. Hurdles in Iraq, he states how PTSD affects soldiers and veterans who have been put under a lot of stress in the Military. Some soldiers get help from a psychologist. But sometimes they lash out at people. They will also have flashbacks of war that will make them lash out. Odysseus might have had PTSD from the Trojan war.
Anyone can get PTSD at any age. Even infants can get this disorder because of maltreatment. Some examples of maltreatment are child abuse, unexplained burns and scars, and sexual abuse. It can …show more content…

In the military your enemy could be a xenophobe and if they saw you they would have you killed. That could cause PTSD if you were to have a face to face encounter with them. Even in today's military people will get captured and be forced to tell their stories. During these circumstances sometimes that will happen and the soldiers will get stressed and sometimes get PTSD from this. Most of the time they will not reach home but if they do, it will be very very hard for them to adapt to society again.
