Stress mindset. Stress mindset is measured before and after the video training using the SMM (Crum et al., 2013). Participants rate 8 items on a 0-4 Likert scale, with sample items such as “experiencing stress improves my health and vitality”. Negative items are reversed scored and the average of all items is computed. Scores higher than 2 indicate a stress-is-enhancing mindset (Appendix A).
Neuroendocrine measure: cortisol. Sample of saliva will be collect using the passive drool collection system at three points during the session: (1) before the TSST, (2) at the end of the TSST and prior to the ST – approximately 15 minutes after the onset of stress, (3) after the ST – approximately 30 minutes after the onset of stress.
