Strategic Leadership
Strategic leadership defined is “when they create the direction, alignment, and commitment needed to achieve the enduring performance potential of the organization” (Hughes et. al., 2005, pg. 11). This definition includes multiple facets, but the overall focus is the organization’s enduring performance potential (Hughes et al., 2005). This means that, in the long run, the organization will thrive (Hughes et al., 2005). This category represents a “fostering coordination within the organization as well as with external units and managers and sharing information across boundaries” (Cameron & Quinn, 2006, pg. 121). This is an incredibly important hierarchy skill because it involves present management between external and internal forces affecting an organization (Cameron & Quinn, 2006).
