Stephanie was the driver, and she was ejected from the vehicle and was killed upon impact, and other passengers sustained major injuries. The platoon sergeant, and the medic from the follow on vehicle stopped to provide assistance and medical support. Although they both tried to provide life saving support it was not enough to save their lives.
At this time the incident is under investigation to determine the cause of this tragic accident. Once the investigation is completed, I will personally ensure that you are briefed on the results of the investigation.
The memorial service that was held in her memory is one to the revered by all, many Soldiers and leaders spoke on her behalf. They shared stories of pleasant encounters they had with Stephanie. The Company Commander even shared a story of Stephanie and how she always had a fighting spirit, never complained even when missions were feeling miserable due to weather, she always found a way to brighten up Soldiers days with jokes, hot chocolate, candy and most of all by being considerate and a caring
