St. Francis of Assisi and Education
My research paper is over St. Francis and his level of education, how he followed his message from God, and how he was a leader while he had his time on earth. I am an education major so I thought it would only be necessary to research about how great of a teacher St. Francis was with the very little education he had accomplished in a school setting in his lifetime.
First article talked about St. Francis’ early life. St. Francis of Assisi was born into a large, wealthy, noble family. St. Francis went to school as it was expected for wealthy families’ children. St. Francis attended an elementary type school that was run by priests in his …show more content…
Francis got the answer he was looking for from God also. God told him to rebuild the Christian Church and to get rid of all of his old habits and life of luxury and to live a life of extreme poverty. He did just this and had 12 followers with him. (St. Francis of Assisi Biography) This is an example of how he was a leader- which in return he educated the followers of his how to give themselves up and their riches and live a life dedicated to God and the better of the world, which is what teachers also do. Teachers are to educate students on how to make society better for people and themselves. He was well-known and much respected because of his example on how to live a Christian life. Educators do the same thing, they must lead by example in front of students or else students won’t take them seriously when it comes to major subjects and events in life. They must be project themselves in a professional manner like St. Francis did when people started to doubt his well-being and doubt that he was actually sent by God to do the things he was …show more content…
Francis and wanted to be part of the new life he had talked about at a church in Assisi. (Credo) St. Francis wasn’t going to turn her down from following her spiritual aspiration. He guided her in the decision that she should cut her hair, change her clothing, and take on a life of poverty, penance, and seclusion. This is a great example to show that St. Francis was a great leader and educator. He educated and persuaded Clare enough to make her see that she wants to take on the same type of life as St. Francis and guided her on the steps it takes to succeed in becoming one of the Franciscan Order of Poor.
