Development of Assessment
“Research in religious practices and spirituality strongly indicates that many patients are religious and utilize religious practices or spiritual beliefs to help them cope with health-related crises” (Larocca-Pitts, 2008). Furthermore, I choice to use acronym’s to help me create a family spiritual assessment tool. The reason for choosing family was because when an individual is ill the support of the family or friends helps with the patients healing process. As it is stated in the Bible when more than two are gathered together in prayer, it can lead to positive health outcomes and healing for the patient (Matthew 18:20, NIV). Based on my research to create my own spiritual assessment tool I used other resources such as: Journal of health care chaplaincy, the Joint Commission spiritual assessment, and the implicit spiritual assessment.
