What is Steinbeck’s message about dreams?
Steinbeck’s message about dreams is that dreams create hope and gives people motivation.
For example on pages 13 and 14, Lennie and is telling George about their dream farm and how when they make enough money they are going to live how they please. This dream gives Lennie and George hope that they will soon be living a nice life. This also motivates Lennie to behave and listen to what George says. This motivates George to have patience and work hard so he will not have to worry about Lennie doing something bad.

The symbolic significance of the title is that is a “Clean, Well-Lighted Place” is a place of refuge and hope. This title can relate to many characters in all three texts because of the the underlying themes in all three of the texts is hope and following your dreams.
In Of Mice and Men, Lennie and George are constantly waiting to reach their dream goal of their own ranch. They want a “Clean, Well-Lighted Place” to call home. George wants to be free to do as he pleases and not have to worry about Lennie.
In Ernest Hemingway’s story, for the old man and the old waiter the cafe is a “Clean, Well-Lighted Place” for them. The old man and the old waiter are both very lonely and they use the cafe as their place of refuge. They both seem to have nothing to live for. The old waiter states “nada y pues nada y pues nada y pues”. This statement shows how the old waiter stands for nothing in life. He fears the nothingness so he uses the cafe as a place to escape his fear.
In the poem, it talks about a mouse and how it is seeking refuge in the winter. The mouse is looking for it's “Clean, Well-Light Place” in that
