Young children lack the ability to view advertisements skeptically, and thus they see advertisement as only a truth (Palmer 2014). Today advertising companies are making the advertisements seems fun, and bright to grab the child 's attention. Young children are just seeing the advertisement as further entertainment and are mindlessly watching them over and over agin. Although, some may say that it is good for children to be exposed to these advertisements, because it is making them more of a well rounded and cultural, it is ultimately damaging. The way advertisements are marketing towards children they make it seem like this newest gadget is necessary and will be life changing. Because children do not know any better they believe this to be a truth, and they do not get the fact that the company’s main goal is to just sell as much product as possible to young, unassuming children. There are numerous devices, makeup, and hair tools that are being marketed to young kids that are telling them that they need to buy this product in order to be “beautiful” and accepted by others. These kinds of advertisements are telling kids that they need to change the way they look in order to be cool and well liked by their peers. These advertisements are damaging to young people’s self esteem and making them feel as if they are not good enough with just being themselves. These advertisements are telling kids that your looks are the most important thing, and that if you just buy their product then ultimately you will feel and be happier. Kids as young as early elementary schools are seeing these messages, and it is wrong for large corporations to see proving this way of thinking.
