Gregor Sansa is a man who fell victim to the selfish morals of others. In The Metamorphosis, Franz Kafka suggests that societal values are based upon our own needs and are changed when those needs are distorted by external factors. This method exemplifies the idea the world does not focus upon an individuals feelings but rather his or her utility to the population as a whole. Specialization usually comes in the form of career or labor specialization. For example, “Each individual member of an organization or economy has a unique set of talents, abilities, and skills and that make him or her uniquely able to perform a set of tasks. Labor specialization exploits these unique talents and places people in areas where they perform the best, helping both the individual as well as the overall economy. If, for example, a single individual excels at math but is not a proficient writer, it benefits both the individual and the community if he or she pursues a field that relies heavily on mathematics” (Specialization).
