How I see it impact the student, is that if that student is hungry, they are very protective of their food, they eat it quickly. If they are hungry and there is a lesson, they might not be able to focus on the lesson.

I used to attend elementary school at my site. I was an ELL student. Even though I didn’t like it there, I see that they are truly trying to help their students to the best of their abilities. Three possible cause of the achievement gap in the US is:
1. The Expectation Gap: Teachers do not think that their students will achieve.
2. The Relationship Gap: The lack of a relationship between teacher and student
3. The Participation Gap: The lack of participation from students because of, but not only a dislike of school
8. In your opinion, which of the possible root causes do you believe society should prioritize in order to close the achievement gap? I think the expectation gap is one society needs to focus on. If the teacher expects great from the students the other two will follow, a relationship will form and participation will increase. But the only that can happen is if the mindset of the teacher is not fixed and they want to have meaningful relationships students. It won’t succeed if it is not authentic
