Growing up, I a had s stable living condition in a house in the suburbs of London Ontario. I attended stereotypical toddler activities, pre-school, elementary school, and high school, as a way to add school as a significant agent of more socialization (Schaefer, 2014). Using these two agents of socialization I was able to make many friends in multiple community’s, this lead to me making many connections in a wide variety of land. When I stared looking for a job, I had already had all these contacts, which lead to my first job at Tim Horton’s. As Liu describes in Impact of the Minimum Wage on Youth Labor Markets, higher minimum wage creates higher earnings, as well as, lower employment and reduced worker turnover people who are 14-18 years old (Liu, 2016). As I was 16 when acquiring my first career position at Tim Horton’s, Liu’s theory directly affected me getting a job (Liu, 2016). I had no past job experiences or qualified references and most business locations were not hiring because of the high wage levels (Liu, 2016). However, a good friend of mine was working at a Tim Horton’s, and got me an interview with the manager, at this interview I was hired on the spot. This shows that because I had all these connections with a variety of people, I was given the life chance of having a job, and starting my career. This life chance is directly related and reflect through the social factor of socialization. How I was raised in a stable living condition with stable family, school and peer group agents of socialization contributed to me being hired at Tim Horton’s and being given the life chance of starting a career, during a challenging time for new workers. Overall, this life chance is directly related to the social factor of socialization having positively effected my life
