Although this approach to stress intervention doesn’t address the problems and issues identified to be the root-cause(s) of the stressful situation, therapeutic snuggling sessions for individuals suffering as a result of work-related/ and other stressors can use this resource to manage and reduce their effect. There are many scholarly articles including “Touch for socioemotional and physical well-being: A review” who agree with this philosophy that affectionate physical touch is can have physiological and biochemical effects on the body including “reduced heart rate, blood pressure and cortisol and increased oxytocin”. In similar ways as to the lecture I set goals to complete small tasks if I am feeling overwhelmed by a workload or feel that I can’t finish all of my duties. I make an organized schedule listing all the tasks I need to complete for the week, in the order by which they are due and work to complete each task focusing on one task at a time. I will take small breaks to read short stories or blog posts to relax if I am feeling particularly overwhelmed and anxious, but I try to stick to a time limit so that I don’t end up procrastinating the day away and leaving my work for last minute, which would stress me out even more. I feel that effective approaches for coping with stress should be incorporated into daily practices such as getting organized (so that important tasks don’t sneak up on you and cause you to feel anxious) to promote a better psychosocial working environment. I don’t think my method for coping with stress has any negative aspects, although I would suggest that you do not start reading a longer thriller or something that’s part of a series as you could feel (as I do) compelled to finish and it may further delay you from completing your initial
