After the war I know things didn’t get better for African Americans because we still were scrutinized and punished for no reason. Yes, slavery was gone but they found other ways to try and put fear into us such as the forming of the Ku Klux Klan. Many of our people were lynched for no reason. We even have the famous incident of Emmit Till who was basically tortured to death for reportedly whistling at a white woman. Many things really didn’t change for us after the war further on in our history here in the US. African Americans dealt with racism and segregation and still do to this day only difference is that it’s not as known now like it was back then. Even today we still go through things such as cops killing blacks who are harmless. Our people still face things that we fought to overcome many years ago and it’s sad. We still have no power and no respect for the most part. Donald Trump who is currently running for president of the US openly discusses his dislike for basically all minorities. The crazy part about that situation is that he as many followers who agree with the things that he says. People were scared to share their feelings and he clearly wasn’t afraid to say how he felt. He just showed us how people really feel about us.There are many people like him in the US who have no respect for any minorities not just blacks. Life in the US is a struggle for most minorities not just blacks I don’t feel that it is cool for us to act like we are the only ones being discriminated against and held back. In reality nothing has really changed since the Civil War for African Americans, yes we have more freedom but seriously is anybody truly free in this world? Everyone tries to control what you do and tries to place you in a box then tries to convince you that you are only limited to be in that
