Sir Francis Drake had one ship called "The Golden Hind", she was originally known as the Pelican, but was renamed by Drake mid-voyage in 1578. Their routes were also different. Magellan sailed down the east coast of South America. Sir Francis Drake’s route circumnavigated the Earth from England to Africa then to South America through the Straits of Magellan. He proceeded towards the north along the South American and Central American coast then reached west from California. Some challenges that Sir Francis Drake faced were angry Spaniards. He was a victim of religious persecution. It was due to his involvement in insignificant crimes. The Spaniards were also trying to kill him because he stole most of their boats and resources.
