Of course the effects of the Great Depression were not totally invisible as other places in Britain were very badly affected. Unemployment for these areas reached staggering 22 percent. Thankfully Britain managed to escape without experience the social and political upheaval of some countries. No extremist’s party’s got through the crack in the British society. Before the great depression the governments took very little action in the economic sphere. But now after the great depression they take great action in the form of taxation, social welfare services, insurance, industrial regulation and public works. Although the great depression proved to be a horrific time all over the world, it provided a great lesson to be learned and hopefully not to be repeated, or at least to be dealt with more appropriately. Throughout this essay it is evident to see the many similarities and difference that took place between Germany and Britain. It can be seen that the Great Depression affected each country in a severe but similar way.
