When it comes down to it direct and representative have more differences than similarities. Some of the few things that they have in common is voting, which plays a large part when it comes to letting citizens have a say in their government. One of the biggest consequence, both governments suffers is risk of corruption. In a direct democracy, citizens do not have much of a say. Not only that, but those elected do not have to fulfill any promises made before being elected. Moreover, in a representative democracy citizens are the ones who choose upon which laws they want to enforce. This can be very dangerous, because the majority of the citizens may not have a strong educational background when it comes to choosing between what laws they want to implement. Democracy is a set of principles where citizens are given a say in how they want their government to be run. Direct democracy allows citizens to come together and vote directly for laws. On the other hand, in a representative democracy, citizens vote for a representative to vote for them. While they do not have much in common, they both are strongly influenced by voting and media. When it comes down to it, representative democracy is more efficient the possibility of this form of government falling apart compared to direct democracy is very small. Most important, one does not have to worry about their citizens education in a certain field compared to a direct democracy.
