Two very powerful countries, but there was a time when the British empire used to rule over India (India, Pakistan and Bangladesh). In those decades the UK learnt somethings from India, and India learnt a few things from the UK, while somethings will never change. So in this text I will reflect, compare and share my opinions on the differences and similarities between India and the UK.
One huge similarity is the language English. English is growing rapidly all around the world, with well over 900 English-speakers worldwide (as their first language). The UK has always been an English speaking country, but India has not always been like it is today. After the British rule, India was in progress of developing their country, and the education system changed. Now with over a billion people, India has the largest English-speaking population in the world, most people have it as their second language. India may have a one of the largest GDP’s, but due to its population India is struggling and has one of the smallest GDP’s per capita. On the other hand, the UK has a decent GDP, and a population of just 59 million compared to India’s 1,3 billion! That is the reason why the quality of life is better in the UK, but the UK is on 131st place when it comes to human development. List of countries by Human Development Index -
