Both movies heavily rely on the concept of dreaming/daydreaming in order to make the movie more comedic and imaginative. Sherlock Jr. and Walter Mitty they both use dreams and daydreams to give themselves the life that they wanted over the life that they have. They make themselves brave, confident heroes, while in real life they’re quite the opposite. Sherlock Jr. dreams of being a detective and having the girl he loves and he's able to travel through the movies at the theater where he works. Walter Mitty dreams of being courageous, and fearless and getting the girl he has a crush on. The similarity is that both of their daydreams also have an aspect of realism that connects them to what they truly want to be and through the movie the audience gets to watch as they transform into the person they’ve been dreaming of
