I witnessed the master teacher in the classroom I was participating in make unpopular decisions for the classroom without fear of the students disliking him. Although the students might not have liked him at the moment it was the right decision and the students quickly forgot. However I also witnessed a classroom in which a different teacher made decisions solely to have students like them and students quickly took advantage. It was clear that students picked up on this teacher 's desire to be liked and became disruptive knowing there would be no repercussions because the teacher feared upsetting them. It became evident that being fair was the best approach because decisions made by the teacher are rooted in the welfare of the classroom. Being consistent can also be a good characteristic for a teacher to have when implementing good classroom management because students can expect to not get away with disruptive behavior if a teacher is consistent when applying rules and …show more content…
It was possible for the students to learn about different students cultures and use their unique experiences to teach others. The teacher was also able to use these diversities to relate to different students creating a positive and accepting environment. An example is a lesson where students had to create a set of clear instructions on how to do something. The teacher took this as an opportunity and made the instructions they had to develop a recipe of a food they often made at home. At the end of the lesson each student had to bring the food they had developed the instructions for and the result was an assortment of foods traditional to each students cultures. Although dealing with diversity in the classroom requires extra work it also affords for great learning
