Vending machines provide high amounts of calories, sugar, fat, sodium, etc. I believe this is an ethical dilemma because the providers sell these items at a low cost and they make them easily accessible by the public. They have no regard for the detrimental health impacts their foods could cause. These self marketing machines are located in convenient areas in order to attract the highest amount of sales. For example, break rooms, waiting rooms, and schools. This is also seen more in communities with a higher amount of people earning a low wage. This app has an array of food items with accurate nutrition facts labels. A possible ethical dilemma with this app is the occurrence of inaccuracy within restaurant dishes nutrition fact labels. There have been times where the menu of the restaurant will have a calorie count that does not match the amount on the app. The app itself is free to download, but there is the possibility to go premium and open up more features. If those consumers are paying for the app to track their calories accordingly, they may be receiving the wrong information. The main purpose of the app is to help improve public health. My opinion on this is that information systems can be beneficial, but they are not flawless.
