Through the Transforming School Counseling Initiative it was determined that eight fundamental elements of modification that would modernize counselor education programs, together with, the school counseling profession, plus adjustments in admission and induction procedures, the practicum experience, certification requirements as well as changes in the curriculum and advocacy (Erford, 2015). The Liberty University Master of Education School Counselor Program is aligned with Virginia's Candidate Performance Competencies, Interstate New Teacher Assessment and Support Consortium (INTASC) Principles, and the Council for Accreditation of Counseling and Related Educational Program (CACREP) standards and follows the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) Model of School Counseling Programs in school counselor education and training. These outlined organizations impart the most modern initiative for school counseling to close the achievement gap for all students through their principles and instructional efforts as demonstrated by means of the organization of identity as professional school counselors, professional development and dedication to the academic success and career preparation of all
