Nettie Stauts January 26, 2018 CDT-2413 Module 1 Lab Parents Perspective: The parents were apprehensive, but eager, entering their son Luke in a child care program. They were getting early intervention home-centered services in which Luke had progressed with assistance from his therapist and babysitter. He lacked social developmental skills and they heard about inclusion although unfamiliar with the concept. They were adapted interacting with Luke through gestures and augmentative communication devices yet anxious about his communication in the classroom.…
Schneider et al. , (2007) conducted an intervention that evaluated the impact a school-based intervention had on the fitness, physical activity and bone density of adolescent females. Two high schools were included in the intervention, both within the same school district and similar resources and facilities. The intervention was conducted over three consecutive years to maintain a manageable class size, where the average class size was 40 adolescent girls. The intervention strategies included supervised in-class activity, health educations sessions and internet-based self-monitoring.…
The National Institute of Justice believes that to stop dating violence before it starts is the ultimate intervention tool. One of its studies, school-based intervention of thirty New York public schools containing 2,500 students reduced dating violence by 50 percent. This study evaluated both dating violence and sexual harassment by random assignment of the following: Classroom-level interventions, School-level intervention, a school and classroom combo, and no intervention. Results showed that students who received some sort of intervention experienced reduced rates of dating violence and harassment (NIJ, 2014).…
There are a big number of infant and young children that have and don’t have a disability and they are learning with each other through playing in different places such as at home, programs in early childhood, and in their neighborhoods. Early childhood professionals and intervention professionals help promote the development in the child and helps the child in their sense of belonging in their society. The term for early childhood inclusion is used to help children to reflect on their values and their society. (Darragh, 2010). Inclusion means the values, and the support of policies for every infant and young child to participate in different types of activities and context to be a member of family, community, and their society.…
Introduction Children with disabilities experience a lot of different environments that help them develop appropriately. In some cases, some children with disabilities have been clinically diagnosed with their disability; however, there are some that are in the beginning process of discovering what disability they have. I had the opportunity to interview two family members of a disabled child named Tanea Pittman. I learned and discussed their involvement with her at home and school. As well as attending and observing an IEP meeting with the family.…
My school-based educational intervention was designed to create greater awareness of the risks of texting and driving. Using the Theory of Planned Behavior, teens who text and drive may have misperceptions towards their personal invulnerability (attitude) and may further have skewed motivations to participate in risky driving behaviors because of the value they put on perceived social norms. Any intervention strategy would first assess teens’ current attitudes and intentions towards participating in texting and driving through surveys. Surveying attitudes and intent prior to program implementation would provide a baseline comparison for future surveys. This evaluation process falls under the periodic inventory/time series model, which asks…
Intervention School social workers play a crucial role in the intervention process with students and families who are at-risk or have high needs. Since many parties are involved when working with one child or one family, organization is imperative so that all participants can effectively communicate and understand what is occurring. In order to initiate actions desired to achieve organizational goals, I have participated in utilizing Google Drive Applications to share documentation forms and retrieve files with my supervisor and other school personnel. Additionally, implementing preventions and interventions that enhance the client’s capacity and assisting client’s with problem resolution, has also been presented through the facilitation of…
In Scientific Research-Based Interventions there are three tiers used in Connecticut, while some states such as Georgia use a four-tiered model. Each student receives instruction based on their needs and can move within the pyramid as data supports. Tier I is universal intervention, tier 2 is group intervention, and tier 3 is individual intervention. This essay will explore Scientific Research-Based Interventions and its impact on elementary education and explain the special education referral process. It will explain different ways to make each child thrive at each level.…
An Investment in Our Future Select and identify TWO sentences (include in your paragraph as “quotation” sentences) presented in the article you find significant as an early educator and explain why you selected these sentences (7 descriptive/detailed sentences) “MIECHV provides federal funds to support programs that connect families with trained professionals—often nurses, social workers, or parent educators—who help parents acquire the skills they need to promote their children’s development. “ I chose this sentence because it describes what MIECHV is and who the program is geared towards. The majority of MIECHV funds are directed towards home visits designed to improve family’s situations and to relieve the burden on public resources over…

Two crucial aspects of obesity prevention are childhood and school-based interventions. The main purpose of this standard review was to evaluate the power and work ability of the school-based interventions performed in primary schools. I chose this topic because obesity rates have skyrocketed in the recent years. Social trends are what normally cause health conditions, socioemotional consequence, and academic consequence. If I give a child a doll that looks like them or their favorite stuffed animal , and have them modify the look of the doll as they lose weight.then the child will have a positive experience and really see the page.…
I completed my field placement observations at Fulton Elementary School located in the Highland Park area in the Pittsburgh Public school district. Students in kindergarten and fourth grade receive Itinerant and pullout instructional services from Mr. Harris. Mr. Harris provides direct services and collaborative-consultative services to help support the individual learning goals and objectives for students in the general education setting (Raver, 2009). As a special education teacher, Mr. Harris has over twenty years experience in the field of education with the Pittsburgh Public school district. Mr. Harris’ learning support classroom is extremely small.…
School wide Interventions Olweus Bullying Prevention Program Dan Olweus developed the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program (OBPP) in Norway in 1993. Most school wide intervention programs are based off this original program. For this kind of a program to work the problem of bullying needed to be more directly addressed and awareness of bullying need to be increased (Olweus 1993). It was essential that the issue of bullying be brought to the forefront of all students, teachers, and staff attention. Olweus’ program consisted of training for the teachers and staff in which they learned strategies of how to deal with bullying (Olweus, 1993).…
The article, Response to Intervention and the Changing Roles of Schoolwide Personnel, was based on research that was conducted at a school to provide an in-depth understanding of the roles and responsibilities of educators, including principals (all school personnel). This study offered valuable insight about the dedication and motivation it takes for a school to effectively implement the Response to Intervention Framework. Furthermore, this article defined Response to Intervention and highlighted the need for educators to have an in-depth knowledge of literacy development and instruction, differentiation of instruction, collaboration and communication. Response to Intervention is a comprehensive and systematic approach educators use to provide appropriate intensive assistance to students with language and literacy problems though various differentiations/modifications and assessments.…
Intervention Reflection Three This intervention went a lot smoother than I expected. The students were wild today so the classroom was very noisy, but we made it work. I would have moved my students out of the classroom, but due to lack of time I decided it was best to keep them where they were.…
