1. Summarize the film. The film is about a German businessman named Oskar Schindler, who dreams of making it big in Poland. Although at first his goal was to make money, after witnessing the massacre of Jews by the Nazis his goal shifted to saving as many Jews as he can. Summarize the film. Sisters Mei and Satsuki along with their father move to the rural side of Japan in order for them to be closer to their ill mother. As the sisters begin to adapt to the new and unfamiliar place, they encounter supernatural beings. Satsuki and Mei befriend their new ‘neighbors’, and their daily magical quests begin.
2. What is the central or most important message of the film? In the film, the focus is mainly on the family of Mei and Satsuki, most especially on the two sisters. For me the message this film sends is about the importance of family.
3. Does the film appeal to the viewer’s reason or emotion? How does it make you feel? Yes it does. Miyazaki’s films are always a masterpiece for me. He created a vibrant environment, just like in Spirited Away. I felt like I was in a magical place just like those sisters.
4. How do you think the filmmaker wanted the audience to respond? The filmmaker wanted to use this film as an example for the kids, and teach them the concept of family.
5. Do you think the film is of good quality or otherwise? Yes. The film was beautifully done.
