In SAS Institute working environment, “The company value are employee-centered”. The company cares about the employee’s payroll, from both genders, as individuals. With that being said, employees working for this company has many perks, such as having their own office and every floor in the building has one or more break room for employees stocked with a lot of treats and refreshments (Bankert, Lee, and Lange 7 & 9). In this case, Jim Goodnight cares a lot about his employees. His logic is if he takes good care of his employees then they will take good care of his company. Those factors consist of, (1) family-friendly environment, fun working environment (2) allowing the employees to know their job is safe (3) Never turn down a product idea. Plus, Jim Goodnight set four principles for the company, and those are, treating everyone fairly and equally, trust the employees judgment, making sure all of the decisions will be long term and bottom-up decision making. The roles management may demonstrate in order to maintain the good factors are the five characteristics of well-developed goals in chapter six of ORGB by Debra Nelson textbook. The first characteristic the company may follow is to be specific, with a specific goal, it will help identifying a proper action, behavior, and strategies in order for the employees to meet. The second characteristic is measurable, the goal is to be designed to keep the mind success and how to measure the result. Follow by, the third characteristic is, achievable, the target should be set in ways that make the employees focus on achieving it in a certain amount of time. The fourth characteristic is, realistic, a realistic goal will help create an enthusiasm in people where they can work hard in order to achieve it. Lastly, the fifth goal is timely, a time frame should be set from starting, ending, review and to assess.
