He thought to them as being greedy and corrupt (TRR). The senate also controlled most of the political power in Rome so by expressing his viewpoint it factored with the decline of the Roman Republic. He was very active in the Political system and he became very conservative at the privation of morals in Roman society. He supported Caesar and his concepts were understanding to the people of Rome that the senate was corrupt and greedy. He opposed Caesar and sided with Pompey and the senate during the Civil War. Caesar set himself as a dictator and Cicero didn’t like that he had considered himself a dictator. Cicero opposed Julius Caesar and when he spoke out about Caesar, Caesar found out and sent soldiers to arrest him so he fled Rome. It was obvious Cicero didn’t like the rule of one man and spoke strong about the nobility of a republican form of government in Rome. Therefore when Caesar announced his dictatorship it was obvious Cicero didn’t care for it. When looking at the facts, it wasn’t a personal thing between him and Caesar. After Caesar was assassinated, Cicero still talked about his distaste towards dictatorship and ended up getting assassinated because of his speech against the emperor. Overall, the way I saw it was that Cicero didn’t care for Caesar’s way of rule that being a dictatorship. Cicero’s viewpoints towards the way of ruling was a Republic
