One saying my uncle always tells me is “the customer is always right, you are in business to please them.” This is true because most businesses stay alive through repeat customers and if a customer has a bad experience they will not come back. Entrepreneurs have to influence their customers in a positive way in order to get repeat business. The entrepreneur and his or her employees have to be knowledgeable and courteous when speaking with customers in order to answer their questions and relieve their stress. I personally go through this almost on a daily basis during the summer when I work full time. Generally a customer comes in and asks for a recommendation on a nail for a job that they need to complete. Not everything can be learned from a book, it takes interaction and hands on experience in order to fully understand a topic. This relates to our studies on how the world is changing due to globalization. I know for a fact that in my first job I will have to connect with other employees all around the world depending on the company. Students such as myself are going to have to learn to adapt to other cultures in order to become successful in this new flat world. In this country we need to keep students engaged in order to stay competitive. The United States spend the most money and has the most standardized tests in the world, this is clearly not having a beneficial effect on our students. Personally I hated standardized testing because I felt like the entire test was worthless. These tests consisted of random questions that I might or might not have seen in my years of education. Students do not do well on them because they are over four hours long and they are extremely boring. In order to see better results with the students in this country the curriculum needs to be hands on, interactive, and stimulating much like how a business is run. Entrepreneurs are successful as a result of doing, not constantly
