The river simulation was a helpful activity to get introduced to civics. The simulation gave one the knowledge of how the government and people worked together. The simulation of having a drought was a creative topic to work with because there are draughts in modern time. The simulation showed different ideas and perspectives that one may have to solve the problem.…
After working in the French Creek Watershed I began to hike around the lakes and streams. This means by having cleaner streams I would personally benefit from aesthetically pleasing clean streams. Even on a short weekend walk behind the cemetery I would pick up any bottles or small objects I saw I felt an obligation to give back to the area I was able to enjoy. I also understood it was vital to keep the area clean so it would stay enjoyably and inhabited by the animals I always hope to see. It is shown that people will spend more time hiking in clean areas and bring an economic benefit to the area (Loomis et al., 2000).…
SaskWater has received a Request for Service from the Town of Birch Hills requesting a peak flow of 130 igpm. An assessment was performed includes two of SaskWater existing systems. Option #1 the Melfort Regional Treated System (CLPOWSS); three scenarios were considered while investigating the CLPOWSS. Scenario #1 connects the Birch Hills community with the CLPOWSS, plus twining 5.5 km of the existing pipeline between Melfort and Kinistino, which would allow for 100% of average daily consumption. Scenario #2 increases the length of twinned portion of the pipeline between Melfort and Weldon to 17.5 km to enable supplying Birch Hills with the requested 130 igpm.…
Mystery Creek Resources, Inc. (MCRI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Fire River Gold Corporation, proposes to continue to operate, reclaim, and close an underground precious metal mine and associated mill known as the Nixon Fork Mine Project (Project). The Project is located approximately 32 miles northeast of McGrath and eight miles north of Medfra in west-central Alaska (Figure 1; see Appendix A for report figures). The Project is not connected with the Alaska road system; therefore site access is by charter plane flown out of Anchorage, Fairbanks, or McGrath. The Project includes a 4,200-foot long airstrip, which is the sole source of access to the site for all workers, equipment, and supplies.…
This laboratory experiment was conducted in Greenfield Station Genesee Creek River to determine the environment’s effect on the amount of diverse biological communities in a lotic river. Shredders are macroinvertebrates that feed on coarse particle organic material (CPOM). Macroinvertebrates usually stay in the same habitat and do not migrate, which may be due to them being trapped or frequently receiving a good source of food. They are also an essential part of the freshwater ecosystem by making the water less polluted due to the organic material. Our lab group hypothesized that the number of shredders in the stream does depend on the thickness of the riparian vegetation.…

At this time, we anticipate retaining a safety expert to provide testimony regarding measures Mr. Arveson and West River Striping should have taken including implementing the use of lights, reflective devices or flags on the painting vehicle or the use of an accompanying vehicle to alert others on the runway of Mr. Arveson’s presence. Further, if Plaintiff continues to assert Mr. Anderson did not have his headlights on at the time of the occurrence, we will require a forensic examination of the headlights. Finally, if Plaintiff alleges Mr. Anderson had sufficient time to avoid a collision, we may require an expert to provide testimony regarding perception delay and reaction time. 3.…
At The River I Stand This documentary takes us back to a time 100 years after slavery where the descendants were consigned to the bottom of the economic ladder. Yet, Memphis was spared the upheaval of Little Rock, Selma and Birmingham because of modest gains of access to movies, libraries and lunch counters. Nevertheless, the seething volcano was building up pressure in the public works department of Memphis. Complaints concerning malfunctioning equipment had been an ongoing cause.…

The very first instance of people in the area of the Los Angeles River were the Tongva Native Americans. Evidence suggests that they may have arrived as early as 5000 B.C.. At this time there was an abundance of both vegetation and wildlife surrounding the river ranging from berry bushes to bears. Hundreds of years later the city began to grow when Europeans settled the area in the middle of the 19th century. At this point the river was tame for most of the year but during the winter the river would flood frequently.…
There’s Something in the Water Relaxing on a beach or fishing on a river are fun activities. The water always looks clean and fresh. No one wants to look across the ocean, lake, or river, and see candy wrappers and plastic particles. Unfortunately, New Jersey waterways, specifically the ones in northern New Jersey, have been plagued with an abundance of plastic.…
Through going up in Green Bay and De Pere, Wisconsin, there has always been a topic that has continuously appeared and disappeared. That is the condition of the Fox River, throughout my childhood I was never able to fully use the river to swim or fish within. That is because of the dangerously high levels of pollution that are within the water. The river has been found to have 209 chemicals found in a study by Sharon A. Fitzgerald and Jeffrey J. Steuer. Throughout my studies, I have found great effort to restore the river to the conditions it had been before the comings of the paper mills.…
Creative writing: Persuasive work sample essay. Rough draft 1 Rain, flooding, washouts, and landslides are all too normal for most Gladstone residents. Rain mixed with twigs and leaves block storm drains creating major traffic problems along city roadways. Flooding caused by the rapid evacuation of water from our city leads to a fast flowing river that causes landslides and destruction. This could all be prevented by installing a new system of water management called Bioswales.…
The Other Side of The River, by Alex Kotlowitz, is a story about a young black boy, Eric McGinnis, who was found dead near the river. Throughout the novel, the reader is given the chance to analyze the different perspective of social audiences on how Eric McGinnis died. We see the views of the citizens of both sides of the river, formal and informal audiences. The river, which splits the two cities, Benton Harbor and St. Joseph, symbolizes for the union that is forced upon two cities, regardless of the different social status, race, and poverty they may have.…
In the “Riverbend City: Urban Health Issues Mission” several health care issues, related to urban areas are encountered. The issues presented in this mission display the common problems that urban areas may face with lack of access to preventive or basic health care. A homeless man is portrayed as a frequent visitor to the emergency room for treatments for minor health problems, and also suffers from alcoholism. He eventual visited the department with more severe symptoms, that needed closer examinations, and that eventually lead to a diagnosis; that could have been prevented with preventive care or routine basic health care ("Riverbend City: Urban Health Issues Mission", 2016).…
