This technique displays thoughts that we may not have considered which makes the text powerful and thought-provoking. Another great technique Younis used in her text were the cesuras. These are pauses, which indicate a stop and this can draw in readers.
Although, Waleed Aly and Manal Younis do make similar points. The both speak about how ISIS leaders tell their people that they will not be accepted in our country, that we will insult them and their religion. The way they finished their texts effects the persuasiveness of it, I personally find Manal Younis’ piece to be more hard-hitting and confronting, as we have more of an explanation on what truly happens. Despite the fact that their texts are presented in different ways, a poem and speech, a lot of the stylistic devices used are the same.
