For example, In Thomas More’s Utopia; Ralph was explaining to the Lord chancellor of England about how the rich tend to keep the peasants and commoner’s poor; by increasing taxes to pay for the riches expensive taste, and making the working class, and lower poorer. The only way for the peasants to get any food was to still and if they were caught they were to be hung in public. Ralphs argument was that the rich were creating the thieves because this was the only way for the peasants to be able to stay alive. With the working class dying and when the peasants were working they didn’t have enough to make ends meet so no matter what they did they ended up resorting to stealing food.
