There may be lessons in these stories but as I have gotten older I have questioned them at an educational level not a spiritual one. Job was a righteous man so why did he have to suffer in order for God to prove a point? Why are there so many conflicting languages and words in the book? Why do the messages whether through the prose framework or poetic dialogue compete with each other and change the views of the story? So many questions have occurred and they reach further than just textual problems, scholarly issues and arguments, language barriers and problems, and competing arguments. This is just a touch on each of those subjects. The textual issues are about what the text is actually supposed to be saying when it was translated and what exactly was left out of it. The scholarly issues are related to the contrasting characters, themes, and ideas throughout the story. The language problems are based about where the book actually came from and who wrote it and the competing arguments are questions as to why the book happens in the first place leading into the question of Job being more Righteous than God. Finally the theological theme of this book is that God is the creator and sustainer of all our abilities. Failure to acknowledge God’s role in our success happening in our lives will cause struggle and spiritual
