Before I this, I didn’t know exactly what path I wanted to take for my future; this allowed me to find out what three career fields I am hugely interested in. After we knew the three careers we found significance in, we had to look for five different locations we would like to contact for each career field. When this process was done, it was time to write our letters. Before writing this letter, I had no idea how to write a request letter because I had never had to write one; knowing how to write a request letter will also help me with my college career and my plans after college. After getting the letter approved, it was time to start contacting locations to set up the job shadow. I started by e-mailing almost all the locations I had searched. Out of the fifteen e-mails, I had about four responses that had all rejected my request. I understood how busy dentist offices, ultrasound clinics, and lawyer offices can be, so I decided to call other locations that did not respond to me. I was extremely excited knowing that I would get the chance to experience my dream career, first-hand. Before my classmates and I wrote our job shadow request letters, Mr. Shoji made us search different careers that we might be interested in.
