For the first three days of our stay in Munting Ilog National High School (MINHS) we were given time to adjust by letting us observed the class that we will be handling. This phase in practice teaching was very important. I have learned how students differ from sections A to D in terms of classroom management, behavior and participation in Math class. I have also learned how my cooperating teacher handled each class, how he adjust his teaching to meet his students’ capabilities.
Each section has its own need. Section A was very active. They tried to compete for the teacher’s attention by being the first one to answer. The challenge here was to let all students recite in equal frequency. They were able to …show more content…
They were given a big classroom. The problem is that they do not know how to maintain its cleanliness. I can see them while they are cleaning and only a few students actually do the cleaning. During my first observation there, although they know that there is someone observing them, their noise was too much. They needed constant teacher intervention just to be quiet. During recitation, only five students are keen on reciting. Others were too shy but when the teacher asks them, they were able to answer correctly. Just like Section C, section D was also given a big room. Even if I am just starting to observe, I do not want to think what I will go through this section. They cannot clean their room properly all by themselves, they cannot even pick the trashes on the floor. The teacher needed to remind them that they should maintain the cleanliness of their room. Their noise was even more unbearable than the other section. Most of the boys here are not listening to the discussion. If in section C, there are five students dominating the recitation, here there is only one. I can sense from the very first time she answered that she is a very bright student. I wonder why she was not on the first section for she was really good. She is the only one who wanted to answer every time the teacher post a problem in front. Other students did not feel the need to
