I explained to them through the email that in order to complete my research paper I would need them to answer the questions and to sign the consent form. I informed them that the consent form was just a formality and a requirement for my paper. I also let them know that the questions were opinion based and there wasn’t a right or wrong answer. I was able to collect the forms and questionnaires from six probation officers that consist of two females and 4 males. I chose these six specific probation officers because I wanted a wide range of experience and a wide range of different caseloads. These caseloads include re-entry, domestic violence, mental health, substance abuse, intensive supervision and the gang unit. The experiences of the probation officers vary 5 years to 20 years. They all agreed that reducing recidivism increases the safety of our communities and that it would help reduce the financial costs that the public would be burdened with.
