The simple title fits the content of the text. It is part of the Making of America Series. I tried to look up other books in the series and make comparisons, but I only was able to find a romance novel series. The front and back cover was not very exciting, it had a picture of a train with its crew taken in the early 1900s, but for the nature of the book it was more than adequate. Joseph and Iola Railroad. The title was what caught my interest, it described what I was looking for. The table of contents was not as straight forward as the title. The author titled the chapters by content and in order of the era, making it more difficult to locate the information I was looking for. The index did not list the railroad I was researching, but it did list the city that bears its name, and that is how I found what I was looking for. Turner provided great detail from his extensive research in each chapter with plenty of graphics and illustrations. He narrates and keeps the reader engaged through a myriad of specifics and details, and combined with the pictures makes it as if it was a guided tour.
