However, Fudge thinks the police shut down the party because they are black, he even points out there is another party going on down the hall, the police pay no attention to his comment. Which can be inferred it is because the officer liked the type of music being played therefore he had no reason to shut their party down, although they too were playing loud music. Later on, Malik and Remy get into an altercation where Remy pulls a gun on his roommate and Malik. In trying to run after Remy, Malik encounters the police, but instead of dealing with the situation that just happened they ask Malik for his identification. After the assault happens there is defiantly a noticeable change in the attitude many of the Black students on campus. These types of situations led to a strained relationship between the citizen and police officer. It will produce a cycle where the citizen do not feel comfortable/safe when contacting the police, so the citizens will not call the police when something happens.
