As applied to the early modern period of Western civilization, the term Renaissance means rebirth. This is because the Renaissance was a time period that followed after the Middle Ages. This brought up the rebirth of the classical arts that symbolized nature and Christianity instead of death. The areas of life the Renaissance affected the most were the nobles. This is because the Renaissance was a product of the elite and not the poor. The poor didn’t seem to care much for the arts because they gained no satisfaction from it besides being able to view a visually appealing work of art.

From her letters, we are able to figure out that she deeply values family above all. She was someone who didn’t allow the power to go to her head, and was willing to trade her entire state just to be reunited with her son Federico. She was considered an unusual woman for her times because she chose to defy her husband’s actions of sending their son away to Venice. Most women obeyed the husband because during this time period, men were the superiors.
Petrarch’s Ascent of Mount Ventoux illustrates a Renaissance man’s dual nature between medieval and modern. When a man is medieval, it means he is old-fashioned, when a man is modern, it means he is similar to the men of the current time. In Ascent of Mount Ventoux, Petrarch is glad to see all the beautiful sights of nature and enjoys seeing God’s creations, hence being medieval. However, as soon as this happens, he scolds himself for admiring nature still and becomes frustrated, which makes him modern. That showed his inner struggle between medieval and
