I think that the designer’s wanted the ad make consumer feel different kinds of emotions when seeing the ad and think twice about a product they buy everyday. The point the designer was trying to get across was on animal cruelty. Many people are aware about the harsh reality of animal testing. However not many realize the full extent that the animal has to suffer to get a product to be passed by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Usually the animals are in very small confined spaces with as little human contact possible. Each animal being tested on has to go through different painful procedures, some get burned, paralyzed, blinded, or poisoned. According to People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) when monkeys are put in to small spaces they show sign of physiological disturbance like frantic pacing, spinning, and rocking. This advertisement had very few words but the image caused such an impact, that it was clear what the intended message was and what kind of emotion it wanted the consumer to feel. The message that the designer wanted to get across was to show the suffering that animals endure for the leisure of peoples personal lives. When there is an advertisement like this one it makes a person almost cringe to realize what the ad is about. The ad gives consumer’s culture an idea of what the standard of beauty really means. This ad is meant for all the consumers and viewers to stop and think of the products they buy
