This is entirely true; however, homework is not shown to be directly related to test and quiz scores, and sometimes it can even hurt the scores. According to the article “Stanford Research Shows Pitfalls of Homework,” “Pope and her colleagues found that too much homework can diminish its effectiveness and even be counterproductive.” This shows that the right amounts of homework have to be given for it to have a positive effect on most of the students.
As evident, kids should not be given obscene amounts of homework, as it steals family and extracurricular activity time, and it leads to stress and can be unhealthy. Homework does give students extra practice that is often needed, but when students are given too much it tends to do the opposite of what teachers and parents may want.
