In an article investigating the new efforts for unlocking PTSD secrets in the brain, Thompson provides insight to the measures being taken as new methods are created. The author first introduces the newest effort describing how doctors are attempting to understand how PTSD affects the brain by observing preserved brains of PTSD victims. According to Thompson (2015), “the government tends to be far better at deploying soldiers than at caring for them when they return” (p. 41), suggesting that the brain bank is a game changer for the future of PTSD victims, soldiers, veterans, and civilians. Though funding is not available in a lot of instances, there are other efforts being made to help support these people suffering with this illness. The brain bank is only one of the many efforts made in the scientific research world and the findings will prove to be life changing for the future of these victims.
